VAF Covid Policy
Vernacular Architecture Forum will require all attendees and staff to provide proof of vaccination to participate in the VAF Annual Meeting in San Antonio May 18-21, 2022. In order to complete registration, participants may either upload a jpeg/photograph of their vaccine card or bring their vaccination card to be presented at registration.
Participants are considered fully vaccinated by CDC standards after two weeks (14 days) after they have completed either the second dose in a two-dose series (e.g., Pfizer, Moderna, Asta Zeneca, or any combination of two) or after a single dose on a one-dose vaccine (ex. Johnson & Johnson). VAF will accept all WHO-approved vaccines and all vaccines authorized or approved by the national health authority of the country where it was administered.
Participants should complete their final vaccine by May 3, 2022.
VAF strongly encourages that participants participate in whatever Booster Program the CDC recommends at the time of the Conference. However, since the CDC recognizes the original vaccine treatment as "fully vaccinated" VAF will not require Booster proof.
At the time this policy was established, the CDC recommended N95 or KN95 masks to help prevent the spread of the Omicron Covid strain, this is also the recommendation of VAF. However, all participants will be permitted with any mask that may be removed while consuming meals or outside.
Social distancing will be practiced as best as possible and hand sanitizing stations will be placed in conference sites and venues. However, bus tours will fill to capacity. VAF strongly encourages that masks be worn while in transit and that drinks and snacks be consumed outside the bus.
If you feel that you need to be tested at the conference or want more local information, please refer to the San Antonio and Bexar County Covid Sites.
VAF will be monitoring CDC recommendations and reserves the right to change policies to meet those recommendations.
